At Dream Companions, we believe that all dogs should live a life as someone's beloved family member(s), whether they will be used for breeding or not. For our dreams to came a reality we need to expand our breeding so we have started our Guardian Home Programs. We have 2 Programs 1 program has a $850 Bond refunded at end of program, 2nd program is where Guardian pays for puppy at Reduced Purchase Price but will be compensated by receiving $2500 or puppy at the completion of Program.
The two Programs enabls us to have more breeding dogs without raising our dogs in a kennel environment. Breeding Dogs in the Guardian Program receive obedience Training as well as most will be in Training to be Assistance dogs for their family's or Training to be Therapy Dogs and Help the community with their Guardian Families.
A Guardian Family gets one of the very best Australian Cobberdog of our litter. This means that we choose our breeding dogs based on the highest qualities that is breed standard with temperament of coming first. Another wonderful benefit to our Guardian Families is that their Guardian dog or puppy will be completely health tested by 12 months of age (some tests may be done as early as 8 weeks of age) at our expense, prior to entering our breeding program. Our Guardian Families get to enjoy all the excitement of being a part of our family and breeding program, seeing the children of their very own Guardian dogs be placed with Disabled Children/Adults as Assistance dogs or as family Companions changing life's and bringing love, joy, fun, excitement and loyalty as they experience when their dogs came home to them.
To be considered as a Guardian Home for one of our breeding dogs, we require that you live within 100 km radius of Brisbane or the Gold Coast. It is necessary that you have physical fencing to provide a safe and secure environment for the Guardian dog/puppy, own your own home, and have a schedule that will allow for your dog to not be left alone for extended periods of time. All dogs and pups placed in Guardian Families must be indoor dogs, and never be left outside unattended. Guardian Families must have reliable
transportation, and a willingness to bring the Guardian dog/pup to us when needed throughout the year.
Mostly dogs/pups available for our Guardian Program will be females. Occasionally we will have a male available.
When the Guardian dog comes into Heat, the Guardian Family are required to contact us immediately. An intact female usually has a heat cycle that will last between 14 and 21 days. During this time, we will need access to her for breeding related appointments. Once she has mated, she will stay with her Guardian Family until around 7 days before her due date. At that time, the Guardian dog will come back to stay with us throughout her pregnancy and whelping, and will be returned once her pups are fully weaned approximately 6 - 7 weeks of age. Guardian Families are welcomed and encouraged to came and visit.
